Geophysicist with the Italian private company R.I.G. srl. (Ricerche ed Interpretazioni Geofisiche) of Milan, the Italian branch of the multinational PRAKLA – SEISMOS, a leader in the field of Exploration Geophysics with head-offices in Hannover, Germany. (1976-1981).

In 1981 I passed the national recruitment examination for the post of a   Collaboratore t.p. (equivalent to the current entry-level researcher/technologist position in the Italian public sector) at the Osservatorio Geofisico Sperimentale - OGS of Trieste, Italy, a state research institute today called the OGS (Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale).Head of the new seismic processing group of the OGS (1982 – 1984)

Manager of the Unità Organica Sismica (Seismic Division) of the OGS, responsible for Seismic exploration activities (1984 – 1986).

Director-general of the OGS (1986 – 1991).

Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer of the firm Discovery Geophysical Services S.p.A., a partnership between the OGS and the Italian shipping company Gruppo Tripcovich of Trieste. (1991 – 1994).

Member of the Board of Directors of the Italian company SUNSHINE Investments SpA. (1994 – 1997).

Technologist in the field of Environmental Geophysics; Coordinator of the Unità di Ricerca di Geofisica Ambientale, the environmental geophysics research group, at the OGS handling, amongst other activities, the study and monitoring  of significant landslide events within the framework of research projects; Chief Scientific Officer for many research projects carried out by the OGS; Executor of geological engineering services for the OGS, and in a private capacity;Tutor for training  activities carried out within the OGS  (1994 – 2004).

In 2008 I was appointed Dirigente Tecnologo (the current management-level technologist’s position in the Italian public sector) at the OGS after passing  in the national examination held for the post.

Director of the “Dipartimento per lo sviluppo delle Ricerche e delle Tecnologie Marine (Department for the Development of Marine Research and Technology)” of the OGS; the Department is mainly involved in research and service activities in the fields of Marine Geology and Marine Geophysics. (2004 – 2012).
